Fay Sciarra’s
distinctive paintings are heartfelt and imaginative. Bold colors, intricate
patterns, unexpected details
and whimsy, characterize
her contemporary folk art style. Sciarra is also a collage and assemblage
artist, utilizing found objects and mixed media in about half her pieces.
Sciarra, who lives and works in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, is a self-taught
painter. She has pursued her art full time for 15 years, after a successful
career as a television producer out West. Two years ago she opened her
own gallery and antiques showroom in Hopewell NJ called Umbrella.
Deeply personal and
just plain fun, Sciarra’s work has been shown
nationally in such galleries as Frank Miele in New York City, The
Pringle Gallery, Philadelphia, Sande Webster, Philadelphia, The
Edge, Santa Fe,
The Field Gallery, Martha’s Vineyard, South
Wharf Gallery in Nantucket,
Barbara Miller in Cincinnati, Katie Gingrass
Gallery, Milwaukee, Romany
Kramoris Gallery, Sag Harbor, Trendz, Stone Harbor, and Raw
Style, Santa
Monica.
